Aggregates & Gabions Products. Aggregates (also called gravel stones) are (very) small, crushed, tumbled natural stones. In a landscaping context, gabions are usually filled with large stones and can be used to create a wall. Aggregates on the other hand, can be used on pathways or driveways.
We first came across gabions as a landscape feature in Denmark and Sweden, where they were filled with local stone and even firewood. Gabion walls are no longer used for commercial use alone, there are more backyard ideas for gabion walls and designs than ever before. We used these pictures as inspiration to use gabions in our own backyard!
